Bill C-250
So it's on again..
well after reading k.hung (on an off note.. andrew mixes up william hung and k.hung.. kinda trades 'em off for the same thing.. sorry kevo) and raimund's about C-250.. well i was going to comment on raimund's point of view but that would've been too long on his comments thing so i'll do it here.
mainly what i wanted to talk about is homosexual Christians.. are they really Christians? i share the same view that homosexuality is a sin.. and we have sinned as well and that is why we need to become Christians. so... is it really just the same thing?
well it cant be looked at so simply.. the fact is that there are many homosexual Christians lobbying that homosexuality is supported in the Bible and that homosexual Christians should be able to marry and so forth, that the church should recognize them as Christians.. there also have been several books published on the matter and even a homosexual Christians union (i believe there's even one chapter in HK).
Furthermore, i had heard a speech by a homosexual Christian saying that this was the way that God had made him, and that his homosexuality was a part of him and so how could that be a sin if he was born like that? as well, he claimed that the love of Jesus had helped him to overcome adversity about his being a homosexual and a Christian and even just everyday bantering by the common peoples. he went on to say more about how homosexuality should be accepted in the church and that as Christians we should be able to tolerate and love everyone, even homosexuals, and to accept them into the church.
on the other hand.. i had watched a documentary about a woman who had a troubled past.. and realized that she was homosexual.. became a Christian and then one day.. upon reading the part in the Bible which says that man should not lie with man and that it is detestable (the section the secular world likes to call hate propaganda) she was struck that the Lord knew her problems and had written them in the Bible so many years before she had been born and that she had finally read it. Was she instantly cured and suddenly not homosexual?
well no~
just like our sin, she recognized that she had to try to change and she prayed about it to God and it took her a long time but she was finally being able to change and told her story on the program "showers of blessings".
i hope you guys can see the extreme contrast in the attitudes of these homosexual Christians.. i for one got particularly hot under the collar when listening to the homosexual Christian who was saying that he was born homosexual and so it couldn't be a sin.. i'd like to tell him that we are all born with sin, that doesn't make sin okay. on the other hand i was very touched with the witnessing of the woman who tried to change her ways... i thought it incredible that she would view those passages as words of help from God and then try her best to change for our Lord.. whereas many homosexual Christians today are trying to twist those words around and to claim that Jonathan and David were gay and God loved them.. (yes that's right.. that argument has been tried over the years)
i'll just close with mentioning that it would be hypocritical of us to base our view that homosexual Christians are not Christians because they are not recognizing their sin.. im sure all of us have looked at what we are about to do and have said.. "well just this once... "
On the other hand.. i think it's quite dangerous to try to twist the words of the Bible to justify your actions.. it should be that we recognize it as sin.. and try to change.. not try to change a sinful act into a sinless act by such means..~
