the Canada Day raimund missed...

so i know it's late for Canada Day celebrations once again but.. ehhh... what're u going to do? in any case.. this blog isn't going to be mostly about raimund.. just in case u wanted to know.. who knows maybe there are some raimund fanatics out there that i've just disappointed but for the more normal crowd it should ease up the pressure of just not reading this whole thing.

okay so i went downtown to hang out with my roommate and we had "booked" raimund a few weeks in advance and he tried to pull out the night before but finally after being yelled at by the roommate of yours truly, he finally caved into being a decent person and holding up to his promises. haha but.. i guess things work out ironically when u try not to be a decent person.. not only could raimund not go the next day but he had to clean his room.. on canada day.. (also the day HK celebrates being free from the shackles of Britain tyranny!!! err.. monarchy.. whatever)

not going to HK also meant that raimund missed a 500 000 people protest against bill 23. pretty cool and serious stuff.. even my DAD went.. which came as a surprise to me.. so HAH one more thing u missed rai!

okay back to canada day.. me and my roommate walked all the way to harbourfront and had some ecuadorian food at the multi-cultural food festival and overheard some native culture umm.. singing i guess it was.. and we proceeded just to walk around and take in the sights.. took a few pictures and stumbled upon a street performer. said street performer was a woman dressed up in a belly dancer outfit straight from aladdin and she was quite pretty. she got a few volunteers to help her hold her highwire properly and two more volunteers to help her up... well she called one her master and "sultan" and proceeded to tell him that there were a few tricks he needed to learn.. and told him to bend over with his arms out straight in front of him and while in this helpless position she pulls his shirt off (at this point me and joanne look at each other and both say something like.. i bet raimund would've loved to volunteer for this) and then gives him a small vest and some funny aladdin looking hat to wear with some photo ops with the guy and the guy's wife as the photographer. okay skipping ahead (dont worry raimund i'll tell u the details later) she does some belly dancing and even danced on the volunteers (not in a dirty way tho but.. yeah skin touching skin) and finally got onto the highwire and juggled three flaming torches. we were impressed to say the least... but at the end there was still only one thing on our minds.. HAHA RAIMUND MISSED IT ALLLLLLL

okay enough about him..
i dont know much about this bill 23.. but.. i think it's of significant importance to blog about.. at first i wondered if the ppl are making too big a fuss of it.. that it's not so bad such that even saying something "bad" about the government will lead to imprisonment.. but if my dad went too.. then maybe it is pretty serious... like "china not telling the world about sars" kind of serious.. as in.. if this bill goes through, HK might be a pretty scary place to live.. and man.. even tho HK is sometimes pretty smelly with not so nice people.. i LOVE THE PLACE.. like that saying.. HK people will make it for sure "heung gong yun yut ding duk!"

but i wouldn't want to live there.. haha
so what am i trying to say? not much.. because there's nothing i can really do... i just wanted to express my admiration for how HK has pulled through this whole SARS thing.. getting their name off the WHO list.. and being able to hold a 500k ppl protest and not have a single person get hurt.. i think that is amazing

even tho i love canada.. their lack of ability to contain sars and get their name off before HK completely disenchants me...

so go HK go..!!!!
